It’s 11pm on New Year’s Eve and my eyes are crossing as I type. Our last couple of weeks have been spent doing various tasks for the new flat and today’s activity centred around the bathroom renovations. We initially weren’t thinking we’d be doing bathroom changes so soon, but after getting in and seeing the state of the toilet and tub, we’ve decided to proceed. Also, I didn’t realise it would take so long to do the renovations. In my mind I feel like I see Apartment Therapy posts about people redoing their bathroom in a weekend, but we’ve been getting quotes for 2-3 weeks! We want to have as much of that work as possible happen before we move in.
Since finding the flat, I’ve had a couple of different ideas about how we’d do the bathroom, though they’ve all mostly been white tile with dark grout. Once I came across the above bathroom with hex tiles all over, I moved away from my subway tile idea to this option, which I feel is quite graphic and a little more unusual. We went back and forth about what kind of sink to get for a while– originally I wanted a wooden cabinet, but due to the practicalities of our bathroom and location of pipes, we decided to go with a wall-mounted sink. I saw this bucket sink at Labour and Wait a while ago and logged it away in my mind as something I loved. Now that we’re going with a wall sink, I think it’s a nice statement piece in an otherwise simple bathroom design. We’re also considering going with concrete tiles on the floor, but I’m still waiting on some tile samples. The samples I’ve seen in most big stores are weird faux concrete with obviously printed patterns. I hope the samples that come are good.
Okay, I’m knackered. I shouldn’t even be blogging right now. See you in 2018, kiddos!
