Copper Lighting

As we prepare to move into our new flat, I’ve been gathering up ideas and trying to synthesise the styles that are already going on with our decor. From this, I’ve observed a bit of a pattern that I think I’d like to play up. For the living room, I tend to like darker woods and brass accents. In the office, I want to explore working with white and plywood. And for the bedroom, we have teak-stained woods. I have a few DIY projects in mind for the bedroom that involve copper, so I’m thinking that copper would be the accent there, which led me to start thinking about some nice copper lighting.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably seen the Tom Dixon copper light around (number 5 above), but I was wondering what else was out there in the world of copper lighting. I’m not sure that light would be the right fit in my bedroom, but I was sure there must be something out there that would work. After looking around, I found that there are quite a few options out there, though maybe not as many as there are for brass lights.

There’s another Tom Dixon design (number 3) that I quite like, and some other designs with more familiar shapes, like numbers 1, 2, 4 and 7. I found all of these on the Heals website because they have a phenomenal lighting collection, but most of these lights can be found elsewhere as well. They range in price from quite affordable (£50) to OMG (£1154). I’d be willing to spend somewhere in the middle for the perfect light– I think my top end would be number 3, which comes in at £310. That would have to be a very special treat.

Copper is looking like it might be on trend for AW14, but what do you think? Do you like copper lighting?
