Sweet, sweet victory! The new sofa arrived this morning. I only had enough time after it arrived to screw the legs on and throw the sheepskin and pillow across before having to head out the door, but I already love it.
There’s this thing that happens after college where you move out into the “real world” and need to quickly get furniture for your flat. You gratefully take whatever free/cheap furniture you can find, and then a couple years down the line when you’re reading fabulous blogs, you realise your taste has changed and your furniture is… shit. I had this moment at the start of the year and have slowly put a little money towards replacing pieces in our living room. Thank God for Ebay! We could sell furniture and put the money back into new things!
Good-bye, dark and terrible Argos bookcase. Good-bye, tacky flat-packed desk. So long, couch!
The reality of decorating a house is that most of us don’t have the money to do it all at once. You can, however, pace yourself and watch your house transform over time. I have one more tiny project I’d like to do, and even though the living room isn’t done, I’ll do a little tour of it to show how it’s come along.
