Make Your Own Art with Engineering Prints

I’m constantly looking for fresh things to add to our flat. Sometimes to bring a new flavour or sometimes to replace something that we currently have. I downloaded a swanky new app called Parabo Press recently that have some beautiful options for DIY printing. One of the things that caught my eye were their engineering prints. This large scale print format is used by architects to print out blueprints, and happens to be a super affordable way to make your own giant artwork.

If you’re not artistically inclined, I’ve previously written about the lovely Debbie Carlos (here and here), who produces work in this format. It’s very affordable and good-looking– plus Debbie is very nice!

If you would like to try your hand at this, it’s pretty cheap. It’s about $8 at Staples in the US for the large size, and I’ve found a place in the UK called Plan Printing that’s about £8. Even though you’ll find lots of black and white examples, you can also print in colour like the second photo (by Debbie Carlos) above. I’ve seen where people have printed photos of family, photo booth style pictures, landscapes, and all sorts of things! Our family is heading off to Sweden soon (yay for Winter’s first flight!) and I’m hoping to take some cool snaps to print.

Do you have any photos you’d like to blow up on an engineer print?
